TEDC Vision, Goals, and History
The Taylor EDC strives to serve companies by providing them with the information, assistance, and resources they need to do business in Taylor.
Our Mission
To improve the economic climate for the Taylor community.
Our primary goal is to increase industrial investment and job opportunities in the city. In the past 10 years, the Taylor EDC has invested almost $2.5 million in attracting new businesses and retaining and assisting existing ones, and that is just the beginning.
Our Vision for Taylor
We have witnessed Greater Austin's expansion, and our vision is that Taylor will continue to enjoy growth and economic improvement while remaining a clean and family centric community. Our vision as an organization is to provide Taylor's residents with excellent local job opportunities and local companies with easy access to a large market of suppliers and customers.
As Greater Austin's growth pushes steadily outward, Taylor will gain new residents and businesses, and the city will flourish. We are wholly prepared to meet the needs of companies that arrive as a result of our region’s high growth. Contact us to find out more!
Our History
In November, 1993, 72% of Taylor's voters approved the creation of the Taylor Economic Development Corporation as a 4A sales tax corporation for economic development. The organization was up and running in November 1994.
Our purpose is to serve as a catalyst to build wealth for all Taylor citizens by assisting local and new industry with increasing revenues in our city. Success is measured in terms of job creation and retention, increased tax base, and other objectives detailed in our strategic plan.
Since its inception, the Taylor EDC and our community partners have assisted 68 projects starting up, relocating to, and expanding in Taylor. Fifty of these projects were new corporate investments, and 18 were community related. Community related projects have included developing the Mustang Creek Industrial Park, expanding operations at the Taylor Airport, improving city infrastructure, enhancing our Main Street, creating downtown WiFi service, creating new workforce development opportunities, and other activities aimed at making Taylor an even better place for business.
We are proud to have a visionary Board of Directors that provides leadership for the community:
William Maxwell, Chair
Christine Lopez, Vice-chair
Rod Hortenstine, Treasurer
Johnnie Mikeska, Director
Nancy Tyson, Director
